HIP HOPHip Hop

You’ll work through the basics and get comfortable with the terms, steps, and skills of a hip-hop dancer.
Your dance instructor Heather will work with you on hip-hop techniques and how to execute them with strength and precision. You will learn basic hip-hop combos which you can develop in class and practice at home.

Beginners Salsa class is a great starting point to getting familiar with Salsa moves that you’ll find people dancing at a typical salsa nightclub.
The class is ongoing and held at the same time each week, with the same instructor. It is structured to give you maximum learning results in a group setting through repetition and practice of foundational steps and lead/follow technique to help your muscle memory to execute basic moves and variations with minimal thinking.
The goal of this class is for you to gain confidence in movement, meet people new to dancing, just like you, and be ready to join the Salsa Beginner-Intermediate Intensive 4-week Series to expand your skill set and become a confident dancer.
An additional learning opportunity is available during private lessons.
You may join the class any time.

In addition to your class, you and your classmates are invited to a Salsa Dance Social on Friday following the end of your series (third Friday of the month)! One ticket is included at no extra cost with the purchase of this series.
Beginners welcome, but class will be a challenge, and focused to take you to that next level!
Whether you're a beginner or have been dancing for a while and what to polish and improve your fundamentals, this is a wonderful place to start.
Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, this Beginner-Intermediate Intensive is a great place to improve the fundamentals and polish your technique. In this series you will learn how to make Salsa feel easy. We will integrate skills in musicality, timing, and having fun! With a supportive community and atmosphere, you will learn and expand your skill in Salsa in a positive and exciting place!

These classes are designed for people who are starting to dance latin music. Instructions on basic steps, turns, timing, body movement, alignment and posture will be emphasized. Terminology and vocabulary will be taught as the class progresses too.
Students will begin with simple warm-up and basic steps or partner work combinations so you feel comfortable while learning step by step. No partner necessary, of course. We rotate partners throughout the class.

Take this class if you are familiar with Bachata basic steps, know some simple moves but want to keep growing. Combining bachata music with more contemporary music, and deep emotion, this form introduces more fluidity, waves and a circular motion into the interpretation. In this course you will learn the principles of lead and follow technique, connection, body waves and social dancing patterns.
With musicality and styling for leads and follows students will learn to build confidence executing moves on the dance floor.
It is structured to give you maximum learning results in a group setting through repetition and practice of steps and lead/follow technique to help your muscle memory execute basic moves and variations with minimal thinking. No dance experience or partner needed.

Argentine Tango Drop-in classes for Absolute beginner and Intermediate level. No dance experience or partner needed. Join us anytime! You will be taught the fundamental movements of Argentine Tango, technique and musicality. As you progress the material will evolve in its complexity on the intermediate level. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes with leather/suede sole. Walk-ins are welcomed!

LADIES OF LAVIDA PERFORMANCE TEAM is dedicated to building strong, confident, and high-level female dancers that may have not started from a young age. After technical strength is built, choreography and show-dance routines are created for the group to later perform around local stages. Dedication to be a part of this group is required, and progress is guaranteed. This team is proof that one can begin to dance from ANY age if they put in the hard work. Classes mix a variety of stretching and cardio exercises with choreography in Fusion, and dance styles such as Ballroom/Latin Fusion, Jazz, Jazz Funk. Ladies learn two choreography pieces during the months of September through June to perform on stage, and another choreography for the summer session video project.
Pre-requisite: beginner (not newcomer) to the intermediate dance experience. Previous dance experience in any dance style is a plus. Passion for dance, desire to learn and commitment to rehearsals are expected.
Performances will take place at various events, including the annually staged LaVida show production, recitals, local staged performances, dance video productions and other events.
How to join: Sign up for your first Try-out class ($40) at the schedule below at the beginning of the open enrollment months of September or February. After the class, you and the instructor will make the decision if you are the right fit for the team and if the team is the right fit for you.
